Drugs such as opioids are unfortunately present in our society today and you may even know someone or know of someone who struggles with opioid addiction. While addiction is a terrible disease, there are resources in Central Kentucky for those who may be struggling with opioid addiction and are looking to make progress in their sobriety. Central Kentucky Addiction Center is a private clinic run by addiction specialist Dr. Alicia. Dr. Alicia offers addiction treatment and counseling for those struggling with opioid addiction, so they know they are not alone and recovery is possible.
Dr. Alicia at Central Kentucky Addiction Treatment is a board-certified addiction specialist who focuses primarily on helping individuals recover from opioid addiction. She uses a combination treatment plan involving both individual counseling and medication-assisted treatment to help set individuals up for success as they begin their road to sobriety.
At Central Kentucky Addiction treatment, patients will visit for an appointment once a month to see Dr. Alicia for counseling and refill any prescribed medication. Once a client is stabilized, sessions with Dr. Alicia will provide the client with a longer, quality session once a month versus your typical short counseling sessions multiple times a month. It's important to note that counseling is a state-mandated requirement for opioid addiction treatment. Counseling for opioid addiction provides patients with the opportunity to adjust their attitudes and behaviors related to drug use, create healthy patterns, and stay consistent with other forms of treatment.
All counseling done at Central Kentucky Addiction Treatment is individual, meaning patients will receive one-on-one care and attention to best meet their needs. While there are a few distinct types of individual therapy that can support those working to recover from opioid addiction, the most popular is cognitive-behavioral therapy. This type of counseling works to help patients identify negative patterns and behaviors while teaching coping skills, stress management, and thought processes. The overall goal of individual counseling is to set goals, discuss obstacles and setbacks, and celebrate any progress made toward recovery.
At Central Kentucky Addiction Treatment, Dr. Alicia provides a combination treatment that includes both counseling and medication-assisted treatment. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is an advanced way to treat opioid addiction that includes integrating certain FDA-approved medications into an individual’s treatment plan to help with opioid cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Certain medications used in medication-assisted treatment, such as Methadone or Buprenorphine, help to decrease withdrawal symptoms by acting on the same targets in the brain as other opioids without the high. These medicines are not a new addiction, rather a tool to restore balance to the parts of the brain affected by addiction; This allows your brain to heal and work toward recovery without facing dangerous withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
Nobody deserves to face opioid addiction alone, and Dr. Alicia and the rest of our team at Central Kentucky Addiction Treatment want to use our dual-process treatment to help Kentuckians beat addiction. We are a private clinic and do not accept insurance other than for a patient’s drug screening exams. Patients may, however, use their insurance for medications prescribed at our clinic’s pharmacy.
